These iconic Kilns located at Medalta Potteries, Alberta Canada, are incredibly beautiful. From 1912 to 1954, the industrial size kilns were pumping out crockery, jugs & churns, to bathroom ware. When natural light comes in the studio, it is magical. Also an important tool in creating form and finding the shadows. All my tables and stands can move around to find the best position in the studio.
I love clay, so of course I love using Slip. Perfect on the darker clays. I’m still finding ways to apply it and usually I use a soft Japanese brush. This is the part that can change your piece. It’s always exciting to see the results after firing.
